The Blades of Chaos, the player’s primary weapon, and a later-acquired secondary weapon are used to accomplish combo-based fighting in God of War. It has fast time events where the player must do certain game controller actions in a specific order in order to beat bosses and foes that are tougher. A power-boosting ability and up to four magical attacks are available to the player as additional battle choices. It also has platforming and puzzle components.
