The fourth instalment of the SSX video game series for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PlayStation Portable is the snowboarding and skiing game SSX on Tour. On October 11, 2005, it was made available in North America, and on October 21, 2005, it was made available in PAL. On October 28, 2005, the PlayStation Portable version was made available throughout Europe. A prequel called SSX Blur, which occurred between SSX 3 and SSX on Tour, was published in 2007. Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach are all playable characters in the GameCube edition. This was a provision of an agreement Nintendo had with EA Sports to allow the use of its intellectual property in EA franchises.

The overall goals of events remain the same in SSX on Tour’s gameplay as they were in SSX 3: snowboard down a mountain while earning points for different tricks that may be executed.
